Access to Work Support

Specialist workplace strategy coaching and coping strategies support

Access to Work can help people with a disability, neurodivergence, mental health condition or long-term health condition get practical support to start, stay in, or thrive at work.

At Access Your Ability, we provide specialist workplace strategy coaching and coping strategies support for people who need help managing the practical, organisational, communication or emotional demands of work.

Our support is individual, practical and focused on helping people build confidence, independence and sustainable strategies in the workplace.

The right support can make a real difference. For some people, this can be the difference between struggling to keep up and feeling able to succeed.

Who we support

We support people who may experience workplace challenges linked to:

  • Autism

  • ADHD

  • Dyslexia and other specific learning differences

  • Mental health difficulties

  • Anxiety, overwhelm or burnout

  • Executive functioning differences

  • Communication differences

  • Difficulties with organisation, planning or task management

Many people we work with are capable and skilled but may find that the demands of work create additional barriers. This can include managing changing tasks, new routines, busy environments, workplace communication, deadlines, meetings, uncertainty, or the pressure of learning lots of new information at once.

How Access Your Ability can help

Access Your Ability has been supporting disabled and neurodivergent people since 2016.

Our friendly specialist team has experience supporting people with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, mental health difficulties, complex needs and other support requirements.

Regular, flexible support is tailored to the person, their role and their workplace needs. To ensure the best fit, we match each employee with a qualified support worker based on their individual preferences.

We can help with:

  • Building practical strategies for organisation, planning and prioritising

  • Managing workload, deadlines and competing tasks

  • Breaking down tasks and workplace expectations

  • Developing routines and systems that work for the individual

  • Managing overwhelm, anxiety or change

  • Preparing for meetings, conversations or new tasks

  • Understanding workplace communication and expectations

  • Supporting transitions into a new role or working environment

  • Building confidence and independence at work

  • Reflecting on what is working and adjusting strategies when needed

We focus on realistic, everyday strategies that can be used in the workplace and adapted as the person’s role, confidence and needs change.

Access to Work funding

Access to Work is a government-funded scheme that can provide practical and financial support if you have a disability, health condition or mental health condition that affects you at work.

Access to Work is usually applied for by the employee or self-employed person. If support is agreed, Access to Work may fund workplace support that helps the person do their job.

Access Your Ability can provide information about our support and costs to help with an Access to Work application, award or review.

Please note that Access to Work decisions are made by the Department for Work and Pensions. Funding must usually be agreed by Access to Work before support can begin
